Field visit to the Kothmale Hydro Power Station

The IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of the University of Peradeniya organized a successful field visit to the Kothmale Power Station and dam, bringing together about 50 participants. This educational trip offered them a rare and valuable opportunity to gain firsthand experience of one of Sri Lanka’s significant hydroelectric power stations. The visit included in-depth discussions on the operations of the facility, its importance to the country’s energy grid, and the engineering marvels involved in hydroelectric power generation. This immersive experience provided students with practical insights into sustainable energy production and the technical intricacies of managing a large-scale power plant.
