InnovateX'25

"Innovate'X 2025 – Robotics Workshop & Exhibition" is an event organized by the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of the University of Peradeniya. The event was successfully held at Kurunduwatta Royal College, Gampola, on 6th November 2025 as part of the school's Science Day, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event began with an inspiring session by our advisor, Prof. Maheshi Dissanayake, titled " Sense, Predict, Drive: AI Vehicles." The session provided students with an introduction to the role of artificial intelligence in modern transportation, explaining how autonomous vehicles sense their surroundings, process information, and make driving decisions. Following this, the hands-on robotics workshop was carried-out using Arduino Uno microcontrollers, where students built and operated Bluetooth-controlled robots while gaining practical knowledge of electronics, programming, and robotics. This experience made the session highly engaging and enjoyable for them. And also, as a part of the program, a robotics exhibition stall was conducted, where we showcased a range of robots developed by undergraduate students from the University of Peradeniya. This provided school students with exposure to advanced robotic applications and inspired their interest in engineering and technology. At the conclusion of the event, we donated five Arduino kits along with electronic component sets to the school, to support their future learning in robotics. Overall, this event was a great opportunity for students to learn, explore, and enjoy robotics while building a stronger connection between the university and the school.
