The road to IEEEXtreme — 24 hours, one global leaderboard.
IEEEXtreme is a 24-hour global coding competition held on the same day in locations around the world, organised by IEEE. Pera Xtreme is how the branch gets Peradeniya’s teams ready — awareness sessions, practice contests like CodeVortex, proctoring and a night-long coding arcade on campus.
What is IEEEXtreme?
Each year thousands of enthusiasts, coders and students of all levels with IEEE Student Membership take part in this internationally recognised challenge to win valuable prizes. The Peradeniya branch runs a full pathway into it — starting with “Path to Xtreme: the what, why and how of IEEEXtreme” awareness sessions.
Pera.Xtreme CodeVortex
A six-hour coding frenzy held each September to turbocharge preparation. Face off in intense challenges, sharpen your skills — and the top three teams can win sponsorship of 50% to 75% of the IEEE Student Membership fee if they commit to IEEEXtreme.
How to compete
Everything you need to go from zero to the global leaderboard.
- 01Team up — create a team of up to three members, each with an active IEEE student or graduate membership.
- 02Find a proctor — ask a registered proctor from the student branch to supervise your team.
- 03Get added to the University of Peradeniya team listing.
- 04Register your team on the IEEEXtreme portal using the branch’s ambassador referral ID.
- 05Practice, practice, practice — follow the branch’s training plan and practice rounds.
Bittopia 2023
Bittopia, the coding arcade under Xtreme.Pera-23, kicked off at 05:30 AM Sri Lanka time at the Faculty of Engineering alongside the global start at 00:00 UTC — with seven teams in person and three more joining remotely.
